Police have fined a Wyoming Girl Scout $400 for ‘not having permission’ to sell cookies on her grandparent’s driveway.
A code enforcement officer asked Emma McCarroll, 13, and her mom if they had the landowner’s permission to sell from a driveway in the city’s Pine Avenue area.

I’m sure that’s absolutely true. It’s like every SBC church isn’t completely messed up. But when you know some of the funds are going to be disbursed to HQ, and you know that HQ is doing the wrong thing, you have to decide if you want to support that. We err on the side of not supporting left-wing causes, whether a children’s organization or a church organization.

What the article doesn’t tell is what prompted the stop in the first place.
It seems unlikely that the grandparents called and complained about their grand daughter doing this. So the police or code enforcement Karen must have taken it on him/herself to make an issue of it.
And they monitored and took pictures of her for THREE days?????
There’s so much wrong with this story that it’s ridiculous.
Aren’t there any real criminals to go after? Like squatters who do not have owners permission to be on their property but are granted leniency and rewarded for their theft?
Retail thieves? Drug delaers?
They ahve nothing to do that harass a kid ?
You can’t fine a child. She can give the cop a box of cookies to pay for it.
I guess maybe the department needed a little cash and went after a soft target they thought would pay rather than fight it.

Yes, a warning and an explanation of how to do what she wanted to do safely and in accordance with the law.
And Fireone’s list of the fines shows how enforcement likes to pile on numerous fine for a single infraction. Three different tickets for one act of blocking a sidewalk.
All of this would have been avoided with a simple explanation.
People just don’t leave CA. They just move to ruin someplace else.

Just like in the military the cops are being replaced by the Nazi left.
Fairbanks Mccarroll was given a $100 fine for parking on the sidewalk, a $150 fine for unlawful obstruction and another $150 fine for a municipal code that said there needs to be at least five feet of unobstructed passage on the sidewalk.

When it was revealed that the Girl Scouts allowed dyke “scout leaders” they were placed on my “don’t give a damn” list.
I wonder if this story appears anywhere else.

Officer was a woman and pursued for several days with surveillance & camera, mother tried to comply, 2 out of 3 citations dismissed, Mom had ~$700 legal bills, officer took some time off o recover from backlash.
Yes there are Karen’s in WI and some are warrant officers.
I have great sympathies for the Baptist position, which runs in my blood, but recognize that one must resign oneself to having funds that have left one’s hands used in ways other than one would have chosen to do.
Mitigating that is appropriate, but nuking the trees for the sake of not entering a forest which has definite upsides along with downsides that can be mitigated often doesn’t work well.
As a Catholic, at the moment I do my very best to ensure that the amount of my donations that end up under the direct control of Rome is at least minimal, if not reduced to nothing (at the moment Rome can use all the belt-tightening it can get for the sake of eventually ending up on track after all the parasites have been starved), and also minimizing diocesean contributions (the diocese on the whole is a good one, but over the years they have accumulated a vast array of woodlots and so need money less than my parish).
If one gets too picky, one will find one’s self, to steal a marvelous phrase from a protestant singer, “only drinking milk from a Christian cow”, which is nonsense.
This is old news. Most fines were dropped. Only one remained about blocking sidewalk which the mom agreed to pay. Turns out the uncle if the girls scout was on the town board and brought up the incident on agenda at a meeting. They said oh we thought you were on only child. We didn’t know you had a sister.
