I use politics more as an IQ test.
I don’t think politics is any indicator of general IQ...
I’ve know some very very dumb conservatives and met some very very smart liberals.
There is wide gap between intelligence and common sense, those things are not directly related.
Smartest guy I ever met growing up, scored a 1560 in his Jr year on his SAT’s... (back when 1600 was perfect score) then took them again in SR just to prove to himself it wasn’t a fluke, didn’t need to take em and got a 1540.). Got a full ride at CMU...
Then once at college got into drugs and eventually flunked out...
I honestly have ZERO desire to talk politics with someone I just met in a first date situation... If that’s where the conversation has to default when first meeting each other, then probably don’t have much in common. There are so many topics to discuss when meeting someone initially, their history, their family, what they do, hobbies, interests, etc etc etc... if that first date conversation has to default to politics... something is really really wrong.
