Trump got 32% of the Hispanic vote in 2020.
Reagan got 34% in the 1984 Reagan landslide reelection.
George W. Bush got 40% of the Hispanic vote in 2004 - the highest share for any Republican since Hispanic voters were first polled nationally in 1976.
In 1976, 1% of national voters were Hispanic.
In 2020, 13% of national voters were Hispanic.
Good politics. Compassionate conservatism. Bush won New Mexico, Colorado and Virginia.
Obviously, that was not sustainable in the long term because Bush tolerated illegal immigration and was lax on border security.
Anyway, Trump is making the argument that we have to enforce our borders. Hispanics agree with him. I think ultimately, Trump will get between 35% - 40% of the Hispanic vote.
