Nothing quite like opening day. I mean, it means Spring is really here. Sure, it’s a little muddy outside. Sure it still is in the 30’s. But the days are getting longer, and the robins are dancing around. And we have all summer to look forward to.

Here’s an oddity. Last year, the Mets opened at home against the Milwaukee Brewers while the Yankees opened in Houston against the Astros.
This year, the Mets open in Houston against the Astros while the Yankees open at home against the Brewers.
(And the Yankees and Brewers made a big trade over the winter. The pitcher the Yankees sent them will pitch in Game 2 Saturday. Meanwhile, the Met’s Opening Day starter was in the Yankees’ bullpen last year. And then there’s Soto.)
