Unleashed Games Founder and CEO Irena Pereira bragged about excluding white male characters from the company’s upcoming game Haven.
In a now deleted post to X, Pereira wrote , “Just wait until they notice that none of our starting characters in our alpha build are white males. None. Out of 6.
She added, “Have at it. Again I will say representation matters – and I don’t know how many games have lacked female characters, or created gameplay penalties for being a female character. Or created vertex shading on white skin to represent people of color. Games should represent…”
In another post she also wrote, “Representation matters. Inclusivity is not the same as racism. Enjoy hating on me for today. I’ll go back to making games.”
In a response to her original post on the thread, Pereira wrote, “Considering that ~95% of video game characters are white and male, a poor representation of the diversity of actual players, I thought it would be a fun experiment. We started with all female characters.”

I just checked the Unleashed Games website. Irena Pereira, the founder and CEO, is a middle aged white woman. The other senior execs in the “Meet the Team” section consist of four white men and one Asian man, all middle aged. Their bios indicate that they all have extensive experience in game design, apparently at fairly high levels. There are no indications regarding sexuality or gender confusions, but they all present as normies. Heck, other than the Asian guy, they could all be freepers, as I stereotypically imagine freepers — aside from being a bit younger, as they all appear to be in their 40’s and 50’s, so they are underrepresented in the cranky old men department.
I am perfectly happy to see a group of middle aged white people, with one exception all male, set themselves up as the champions of underrepresented minorities in video gaming. How else can underrepresented minorities be represented unless white men do all the work for them?
I don’t follow gaming, but it would be interesting to see if any of the intended audience calls them out on the white savior thing.
It would also be interesting to know if the Unleashed Games titles outperform games produced by minority-led and minority-staffed game companies ... if any exist. And if such companies don’t exist, that seems to me to be a market opportunity for the activists and grifters to get off their butts and actually try to build something.
There should be a special certification. 100% White Free. This certification can be their ticket to admiration. Customers will flock to games that have this certification.
I hope nobody is planning on giving her the “hate” she is so desperate to get. Please everybody just ignore her.
