I shot a friend’s short-barreled Ruger .357, loaded with hot 158 grain handloads. Dang thing’s trigger guard cracked me on the knuckle of my middle finger. Tried a tighter grip— same thing. Used a death grip on the gun and then it was tolerable. Five rounds was more than enough for me.
I would rather shoot a whole box of .44 magnum than do five more rounds with that Ruger .357.
My Uberti (owned by Beretta) Colt replica (much improved) is mild sweet shooting pistol. The 5-1/2” barrel cuts the sound a lot and the recoil.
And it has the takedown power on the target side.
Of course you can shoot milder 38 Special loads that in it.
