Old neighbor was head of the engineering division that was adding seats to a major college football stadium that was built in the 1930s. I don’t recall the exact measurements but the space allowed for a bench seat in 1930 was 16” but the newer, modern ones were in the 22” range and it was due to size, not comfort.

I believe it. I’ve had a medical issue lately and have been in and out of the hospital.
I see wide, and I mean really wide seat wheelchairs that could seat two of me and I’m an average sized guy.
I’ve seen the behemoths that could fill these chairs in TV but not personally... Yet.
How anyone could let themselves get to such a condition astounds me.
In the past only kings and emperors could eat themselves into such a state.
