Public video of Miss America laying a wreath at Arlington National Cemetary renders a hand salute rather than the “civilian” hand over your heart !
A CLASS ACT under criticism because she CHOSE to render a hand salute which she as an Active Duty AIRMAN has the option to do so whether in uniform or not.
What say you?

Got it. What I was talking about was the procession to the Capitol so he could lie in state.

I don’t really understand why they changed the customs and courtesies to people in civilian clothes to begin with. If you’re in civilian clothes and you were a soldier or a sailor or an airman you place your hand over your heart. If you’re holding a hat you remove your hat and still place your hand over your heart not the freaking hat. I guess people couldn’t get it so they changed it. Now we get to all salute! I’m still placing my hand over my heart because that’s what my daddy did, that is what my granddaddy’s did that’s what all my uncles did and they were all war heroes as far as I was concerned. Believe in the warfighter/civilian concept. It’s honorable. Do you want to prove that you were in the military and now you’re a civilian show them your freaking veterans card.

This is why I HATE the LEFT, all Karens. They never complain about their side. There complaints are only to tear down one side, almost expects a Karen to post “those shoes” comment……

As a veteran of the American Armed Forces, I have the right to salute the flag, uncovered, anytime I choose.

Good on her. I had the strangest desire to salute a b-1 bomber one time, lol. Turns out it was getting ready to make it’s final flight to the Air Force Museum.

I salute when they play THE National Anthem. My friend, also a veteran, puts his hand over his heart.

Love the rant and yes you totally get to choose whether to Salute or place your hand over your heart. Just don’t do the kneel thing

Both are acceptable and appropriate- the point of this post is this Active Duty Airman NOT in uniform chose to salute and I think it was the right call if for no other reason to cause this discussion.
It’s all about have the CHOICE - period. Nobody can tell a veteran NOT to salute whenever he or she wishes regardless of what others expect or want you to do.
