The problem isn’t today’s Republicans, it was the fault of the “Greatest Generation” when they handed over their kids to the most America-hating entity in the world - the US ‘Educational’ System. (obviously later generations did the same, but thankfully no one here is that crazy)
Pretty much anything tried now to fix things is written off as a stunt, and simply empowers the Democrats even more.
I'm with you that our failed government school system is one of our nation's top problems that doesn't get addressed. People seem to think that it will fix itself, organically. It's won't, we need some assistance and attention from our elected officials. School choice, competition that everyone can avail themselves of is a good path. However, that requires support from government and Blue states on the teacher union payroll are anathema to changing this power structure and status quo. Red states like Florida and TX and AZ seem to be starting, but this is generational change and will take time. We need leadership from Republicans and a commitment to this reform, it's tepid at best currently.
