Sad end, but better than killing more innocents in their homeland. Russia has a remarkably high suicide rate. Particularly among men, where it's higher than any civilized nation save for Lithuania (which has a large Russian population...). In fact, suicide rates remain fairly high in all of the former Soviet states. Maybe it's a cultural thing. Or maybe they just don't have a lot to live for back in Muscovy.
If there are a lot of those wounded soldiers suicides it could mean that the Russian soldiers are talking among themselves and are self-evaluating the quality of their medical care and chances at the front of being evacuated, an indication of morale and conditions.
I assume someone in MI is keeping track of these to see if there is a pattern, or if it is becoming common.
