President Donald Trump has announced that he is officially retiring the moniker ‘Ron DeSanctimonious’ that he had previously used for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Former President Donald Trump first used the nickname “Ron DeSanctimonious” for Ron DeSantis on November 5, 2022, three days before the midterm.
This occurred during a rally in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, where Trump was stumping for Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano and Senate candidate Mehmet Oz.
He mentioned this nickname while discussing his standing in the polls for the potential 2024 Republican primary nomination.

But I thought Trump was thin-skinned and petty. Many still haven’t figured out that it’s all about winning, and building a coalition with Trump. The insults, the “pettiness” are tactics and very effective ones at that. If an upstart wants to challenge Trump then he’s free to do so. But the Trump-treatment will be awaiting him if he makes that decision. If he bows out and decides to be a supporter instead of an adversary, Trump is more than happy to bury the hatchet. Trump’s critics like to call it kissing the ring, but there’s nothing dictatorial about it. It’s a battle that’s won or lost in the court of public opinion.
Ron DeSantis is a good man, one wife, great fam, no "porn stars", he's a war vet who was awarded the Bronze star (no heel spurs, etc). Governor DeSantis has some brave accomplishments, including taking on the trans/etc whatevers and the illegal alien border invaders. Much, so much more.
I could go back, however I predicted several times here on FR that Mister Trump, when he wins his nom (kind of a given) will gratuitously say nice things about Gov DeSantis, trying to cozy up to us DeSantis supporters. And, of course, he just did.
Me, I think that Trump will lose in the general. He will not be facing Biden (my wager), but a younger, more photogenic and with a blank past.
All that said, if Mister Trump really (really) wanted to win the general, he would select Gov DeSantis, as the Navy Uniform photos alone conform trust (that he desperately needs,)
I’ve got worse monikers than that for him. 😆
Which shows all along Trump was just playing politics and really respected Desantis. Also by the way also proving Desantis isn’t deep state.
Wish I could say the same for the rabid, hateful Trump fanatics here, the 10 or so. Of them. They insulted Desantis and anyone that tried to reasonably push him as a conservative alternative.
Well back on the Trump train…he was always my second choice this election after Desantis.
But dont be surprised if he loses…again. The best predictor of future events are past ones.
He made a YUGE mistake going against Trump and MAGA!
>>”Which shows all along Trump was just playing politics and really respected Desantis.”
No offense but. you’re very gullible if you believe that. Was Trump just playing politics when he was trashing DeSantis or is he playing politics now? Anyone who has paid attention to Trump over these past 8 years, knows the answer.
Anyone who wants to mend fences with Trump will usually get his wish. It’s the way Trump operates. No greater friend, no worse enemy. But does that mean Trump respects him? Trump’s not naive. Respect is something you earn and DeSantis lost a lot of that when he decided to challenge Trump rather than support him. Can he ever win it back? Maybe to some extent, but it’s doubtful Trump will ever fully trust him again.
Sometimes politics has the feel of professional wrestling... someone’s worst enemy one day is his tag-team partner the next...
And dumb
Agree-stop the juvenile name calling, its why in realclearpolitics average of polls that Trump is only up +2, drivien by just one poll showing him up +8-others show it a tie! or Biden up, take out the outlier poll and its tied-how is that possible ?!!!
Trump should be up +10% just on issues but this child like name calling (that some Trump supporters try to imitate) , kills Trumps chances with independents and the Dems may not need to cheat this time unless we go with issues. Independents have a very unfavorable opinion of Trump and cite the name calling and we can’t win without them even if we get every single person who ever registered GOP to vote for Trump.
Yup, the total opposite of "backstabber", "deep state", and "RINO" (which we Conservative DeSantis supporters knew from the get-go).
No I think you are wrong, yet I appreciate the politeness.
When Chis Christie dropped out Trump said “no one cares much”. He clearly said nothing as kind as what he did to Desantis, this shows respect.
Trump on Nikki Haley: “ I know her very well. She’s not tough enough. She’s not smart enough. And she wasn’t respected enough. She cannot do this job,” added Trump,”. Although she has t dropped out yet.
‘I can’t find his comments on Asa H and I’m not going to spend an hour looking. Trump rightly recognized Desantis as his main threat in the primaries and devised the strategy to mock and attack him.
It partially worked although I think Desantis obviously could have had a better strategy.
We are Americans.

But that’s because Christie didn’t try to reconcile with Trump or endorse him. On the contrary, in his dropping-out speach, he was vitriolic as ever, vowing to do whatever he can to ensure that Trump never becomes president again.

Nikki hasn’t dropped out yet so until she does, we’ll have to wait and see. And Asa Hutchinson just endorsed Haley, claiming that Trump divides America.
So was Ted Bundy. LOL
It’s like “epic” but better. 🤣
Thus the moniker, “Icky Nicki”, is very appropriate at this time.
You gotta admit, Donald Trump is the world’s greatest name-caller!
