A lot of people have already been saying that, all along on FR.
If finding a wealthy businessman who is also a populist, honest, patriotic, smart and relentless, was easy we’d have seen it happen long ago. Trump is exceedingly rare. Now all of a sudden we see a wealthy, glib businessman trying to present himself as just like Trump. Yeah, right. Occam’s razor. Which is more likely? that Vivek really has all those qualities that make Trump so unique and special? or that he’s an elitist con-man? Do the math.
Trump didn't go after him very hard. I think Vivek is in it in case Trump has to leave the race.
He knows the Trump platform is unbeatable so he doesn't want to distance himself from that.
He's seen what Trump can do to his opponents, so he'll play the MAGA routine just in case.
Maybe get a place in the cabinet.

To a degree my point. But when Trump writes “Very sly, but a vote for Vivek is a vote for the ‘other side’ — don’t get duped by this. Vote for ‘TRUMP, don’t waste your vote! Vivek is not MAGA” it’s that’s not going after him I’ve got some swamp land in Florida prime for development. .

The Hawaiian Democrat party refused to certify OMuslim because he couldn’t prove citizenship so finally Nancy Pelosi had to perjure herself and sign a certificate to get him on the ballot. So the only reason it didn’t work was because of illegal activity not because of the correct constitutional definition of Natural Born Citizen.
I’m not particularly interested in voting for him, but he’s an important voice right now, and I think he should keep it up.
Trump played this smart. Vivek has been using Trump - using Trump’s name and posing as a Trump supporter (in spite of his past history painting a very different picture of his loyalties). But his agenda was never to get Trump reelected. On the contrary.
He was using Trump, but Trump used him instead. Trump let Vivek attack DeSantis and Haley, which helped speed up their inevitable decline. But with the two of them out of the way, Vivek was hoping to pivot to “I love Trump. He’s the greatest President in my lifetime. But the deep state won’t let him win so, vote for me and I’ll be just like Trump.” Devious plan, but before he had a chance to spring it, Trump hit him first and hit him hard. Trump was toying with him all along and always knew who he was dealing with.
BTW, a number of Trump supporters are making the case that Vivek was engaging in assassination porn with the “Save Trump, Vote Vivek” tee-shirts and I tend to agree. Unacceptable, so before people flock to defend “poor Vivek” from “mean Trump”, it’s worth keeping that in mind.
And things aren’t different now
DeSantis is my first choice. Vivek is my second choice. I’ll vote for whoever is still left in the primary. Then I’ll support the eventual loser, Donald Trump in the general election.
