Elon Musk claims EU offered an ‘illegal secret deal’ as X charged with DSA breaches

Elon Musk has hit out at the European Commission, claiming it tried to make an “illegal secret deal” with X over compliance with new EU rules to prevent online misinformation.
It comes as the Commission announced on Friday that Musk’s social media platform, formerly known as Twitter, had breached elements of the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA).
“The European Commission offered X an illegal secret deal: if we quietly censored speech without telling anyone, they would not fine us,” the billionaire tech mogul posted on X.

“Today we issue, for the first time, preliminary findings under the Digital Services Act,” Margrethe Vestager, a senior official at the European Commission, said in a statementFriday. “In our view, X does not comply with the DSA in key transparency areas, by using dark patterns and thus misleading users, by failing to provide an adequate ad repository, and by blocking access to data for researchers.”
The company’s approach to so-called verified accounts “does not correspond to industry practice and deceives users,” the European Union’s executive arm added in the statement. Anyone can subscribe to obtain the “verified” status, it noted, and pointed to evidence of “malicious actors” abusing the blue check “to deceive users.”
If the Commission’s preliminary findings are confirmed, it could impose a fine on X of up to 6% of its global annual turnover.

As noted several weeks ago, Antifa was organizing to disrupt a Christian event in Portland. Saturday Portland Antifa members executed a direct action to try to violently shut down a Christian worship event downtown. They wore masks to hide their identity in the conspiracy.
After making threats, committing indecent exposure and confronting people in the square, they later turned violent against the volunteer security after being unable to storm the event. (Ngo on “X”)
OBSERVATION - Poorly supported direct action by Antifa in the heart of their territory. Lacking a unifying ‘event’ to rally supporters, Antifa actions have not gone very far this summer. The campus Hamas protests have died down as well.
As noted , numerous groups have protests planned this week for the RNC convention in Milwaukee, but none seem to have developed much support.

With the attempt on Trump’s life, leftist leadership may be revectoring there plans for any violent attempt to breach police lines and try to rush the convention center - especially if Trump in on site. The increased emphasis on protection IMHO would result in potentially lethal force, if not some strong application of some of the nastier riot control measures available to law enforcement.
As of now, there will be protests, with a potential for rioting, but the extent of those riots remains to be seen and may be dampened by Saturday’s events.

Transitioning the PA assassination attempt here as investigation has shifted and classified it as a potential domestic terror incident.
What is known about Crooks, the shooter?’ It seems he’s one of the few 20 yr olds in the country without a social media footprint.
Sources have confirmed that explosives, including an IED, were found inside of his vehicle that was parked near the rally. It has not been confirmed how many or what explosives were discovered, however, it was reported that more than one was in the vehicle.
According to the Associated Press, it’s believed that Crooks used a firearm that his father purchased at least six months ago. Officials are currently investigating the origin of the gun.
More information regarding Crooks’s upbringing has been released. According to his former classmates, he was a loner who was “relentlessly” bullied.
According to the New York Post, Crooks tried out of the rifle team at his high school. His classmate Jameson Murphy explained that the 20-year-old did not make the team as he has a “comically” bad shot.
“He tried out…and was such a comically bad shot he was unable to make the team and left after the first day,” Murphy said.

It is being reported that the roof of the building Crooks used to shoot from was identified as a high security threat prior to the rally. According to the Secret Service, it was local law enforcements responsibility to secure that portion the perimeter.
Also under question is why a ladder was conveniently placed by the building, enabling Crooks to reach the roof.
Reports also coming out that a police officer amended to the roof, was confronted by Crooks and retreated back down the ladder without engaging him. Some speculation is that it disrupted Crooks and didn’t allow him to get better aimed shots off. Long range photos of the AR15 style rifle suggest that it was equipped with a holographic or red dot style scope. I comment further in later paragraphs.
Jonathan Willis, the officer in the famous photo of the two snipers on the roof at Trump’s rally, reportedly stated that he had the assassin in his sights for at least 3 minutes, but the head of the Secret Service refused to give the order to take out the perpetrator before he could fire on Trump. This could account for the delay in engagement until after Crooks began firing.
Secret Service is under the microscope for its part. The Secret Service elements that day were not from Trump’s normally assigned elements. With the tempo of Trumps campaign, all but one were taking a day off. The lead SS was from Trump’s detachment, with the remainder filling in as ‘loaners’ from other districts. Considerable speculation and look is being given to the apparent lack of training and even the likelihood of DEI hires of three female agents who’s actions have come under scrutiny for their poor response as revealed on video from the event.
Secondly, it is reported that Trump’s security team repeatedly requested additional agents and support - requests consistently turned down.
OBSERVATIONS - These follow-on reports strongly suggest that the Secret Service executed a Charlie Foxtrot of nearly catastrophic proportions. Big questions remain as to the command and control system in place that resulted in Crooks getting on an unguarded roof in the first place and the delay in counter snipers taking him out. This leaves room big enough for a battle ship to pass for the worse case scenario - a deliberate opening and attempt with insider help.
According to classmates, Crooks could’t hit the broad side of a barn when trying out for the shooting team. I know I’ll get jumped by some gunners out there, but shooting sports rely more on iron or simpler sights - its a sport and targeting is a skill set in the sport. Having a (probably) weapon zeroed with a holographic or red dot style scope minimizes much of that portion of marksmanship. Centering the cursor/dot on the target is far simpler than proper sight alignment of front / rear sights - especially in a high stress situation. Firing from a prone position assists in steadying the weapon, necessary for maintenance of the easy sight picture gained from the scope. Finally, it would seem Crooks likely had experience shooting the rifle, owned by his father. If he tried out for a shooting team, he very likely went out shooting with his father. Likely to see more details on this coming out in later days. Familiarity with the rifle also contributes to his ability to target Trump in a high stress situation.

USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) is back in its home port after an almost nine-month deployment
USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) left San Diego Bay Thursday to begin a planned Pacific deployment, Navy officials confirmed to USNI News. Ship spotters saw Lincoln depart its berth at Naval Air Station North Island, Calif., on Thursday
Now off the coast of California, Lincoln will embark aircraft from Carrier Air Wing 9 and serve as the flag ship for Carrier Strike Group 3. Guided missile destroyers from Destroyer Squadron 21 will join Lincoln. A Navy official confirmed USS Spruance (DDG-111) deployed with Lincoln but did not identify the guided-missile cruiser that would accompany the aircraft carrier.
Meanwhile, San Diego-based carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) is now operating in U.S. Central Command, as of Friday, after leaving U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and U.S. 7th Fleet.
Aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN-73) is now in San Diego after arriving in California this week, following the completion of a several-month journey around South America, according to ship spotters. Four poultry workers in Colorado have been diagnosed with bird flu, health officials confirmed Sunday.
The new cases bring the U.S. total to nine since the first human case of the current outbreak was detected in 2022, also in a Colorado poultry worker. Eight of the nine were reported this year.
Their illnesses were relatively mild — reddened and irritated eyes and common respiratory infection symptoms like fever, chills, coughing, sore throat and runny nose. None were hospitalized, officials said. The other U.S. cases have also been mild.

Trump arrived yesterday in Milwaukee for the RNC convention.
Trump has issued his first statement since an attempt was made on his life yesterday during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump said it was “God alone” that saved him and urged supporters to “remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness.”
Day 1 of the convention will focus on the Economy.
Secret Service and Milwaukee official announced yesterday that there will be no changes to the security measures for the convention this week.
biden / democrats are trying to take advantage of the attempt on Trump’s life to pivot democrat attacks into that of doves bearing olive twigs. But they are doing that by emphasizing republican ‘attack’ ads, essentially saying that trump caused Crooks to try to shoot him.
An example of this style of democrat attack was exposed this weekend when ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos claimed that the former president and his allies had contributed to “violent rhetoric” across the country.
“Of course, President Trump and his supporters have contributed to this violent rhetoric as well,” Stephanopoulos said.
“Absolutely, George,” reporter Martha Raddatz agreed.
“We were just looking back this morning at some of the things President Trump has said,” she continued. “He warned last March of potential death and destruction if he were charged by the Manhattan district attorney; ‘our country is being destroyed as they tell us to be peaceful.’ Trump in January warned of bedlam in the country if the criminal charges against him succeeded, and of course, in March he said, ‘Now if I don’t get elected, it’s going to be a bloodbath for the country.’”
Raddatz noted Trump has said the “bloodbath” quote was a joke and taken out of context—he was referring to economic woes with his remarks—before adding, “But those are indeed his words.”
Raddatz then said Trump supporters have offered similar rhetoric and quickly evoked the January 6th Capitol event.

I think for the record Stephanopoulos contributed to the Trump hate in his own way. During his interview with biden, the following interesting exchange was noted -

The top political adviser to Democrat mega-donor and LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman encouraged journalists in an email Saturday to raise the possibility that the attempted assassination of President Trump was “staged.”
The news site Semafor obtained the following email from Hoffman’s consigliere, Dmitri Mehlhorn, sent to reporters after the shooting:
“[One] possibility — which feels horrific and alien and absurd in America, but is quite common globally — is that this ‘shooting’ was encouraged and maybe even staged so Trump could get the photos and benefit from the backlash. This is a classic Russian tactic, such as when Putin killed 300 civilians in 1999 and blamed it on terrorists to ride the backlash to winning power. Others who have embraced this tactic of committing raw evil and then benefitting from the backlash include Hamas on October 7. If any Trump officials encouraged or knew of this attack, that is morally horrific, and Republicans of decency must demand that Trump step down as unfit.”
OBSERVATION - News of this effort was bouncing around the inter webs this weekend. Pretty crass and I think real news has pretty well washed this effort out, though some outlets did try to raise this as a possibility.

Day one of the RNC saw large protests and the setting up of a CHAZ by Pro-Hamas and Antifa paid agitators.
Leftist protesters shut down the roads outside the RNC Convention as they chant, “No Trump, no KKK, no fascist USA.” Many of them advocate for Trump to be killed believing that he will repeat Hitler’s genocidal agenda.
OBSERVATION - No reports of violence. I still hold that the greatest potential for such a violent assault will be on Thursday when Trump gives his acceptance speech.

Fog of war impacts event reporting in the first 48 hours, generally. This is becoming more evident as better information surrounding the assassination attempt on Trump comes forward. Todays information, released over the course of yesterday, is excessively concerning to me. Either this was the greatest Charlie Foxtrot of all time, or it was set-up for a deliberate deep state strike on Trump. Evidence of both in the forefront today. So unbelievable, I had to check for independent confirmation.
First, persistent evidence that the regime deliberately set security up for failure. In my initial posts, I noted it was being reported that Trump’s normal SS detachment was not on site that day, getting a breather from the tempo of Trumps campaign.
THIS WAS NOT THE CASE. It was revealed yesterday that Trump’s Secret Service permanent detail were stood down for the Butler, Pennsylvania rally on Saturday, according to an admission by Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi. They were pulled for a Jill Biden Party in Pittsburg 40 miles away. Reports are they were backfilled with other, less experienced agents & possible contractors. The site agent, who was in charge of putting all security measures for a particular event in place, was a “relatively new agent” from the Pittsburgh office with “limited experience,” Hence the incredibly poor coordination with local law enforcement (to be discussed next) and the gaggle of DEI hires who from videos showed they did’t know their heads from a hole in the ground.
ON THE WORST CASE EVIL SCENARIO - Throwing together a gaggle of poorly trained agents into a situation where there is still a raging concern that the shooting was arranged - actions Trumps permanent detail would have caught and prevented - are still in the forefront.
Which brings us to the local LEO responses and actions. Yesterday, it was revealed that local law enforcements had eyes on Crooks for nearly 30 minutes before he opened fire on Trump. One officer at the rally took a photo of Crooks at 5:45 p.m. and called it in as a suspicious person, according to WPXI-TV. If Crooks’ actions were suspicious, why in the heck didn’t they detain him.
Unconfirmed reports that a police (SWAT) unit was supposed to be on the roof but stayed inside the building Crookes fired from because it was hot outside. Was this a deliberate disregard for their orders or just stupid, lazy cops.
The potential belief / understanding that a local SWAT unit had charge of that roof top may be the reason for the report that counter sniper team behind Trump tried to get permission or deconflict since the may have expected swat up there. NEVER THE LESS, the order to hold fire until Crooks opened fire is still diabolical and completely out of order.
So basically law enforcement let the shooter get on the roof, knew about him being there before Trump got on stage, and then they let him open fire on President Trump and his supporters. (Ny post )
More information on the shooter continues to trickle out. He reportedly was featured on an investment ad made by the nefarious BlackRock - WEF’s investment arm of enforcement.
FBI apparently cannot crack the code on Crooks phone and this 20 year old apparently has no social media footprint.
The day of the shooting, he apparently bought 50 rounds of 5.56 and a ladder. According to a report from CNN citing law enforcement officials, Crooks bought the ladder from Home Depot on the day he tried to assassinate Trump from the roof of a nearby building.
If the reports are correct, law enforcement saw him observe the building, take out a range-finder to get the distance of his shot, come back with a backpack and a ladder, climb the building with a rifle - AND DID NOTHING.
Finally, yesterday Kimberly Cheatle head of the United States Secret Service was put in the spotlight over her actions (inactions) surrounding the whole debacle in PA. The NY Post is reporting that she got her job due to insider connections with Jill Biden.
Cheatle is a strong supporter of DEI, having pledged for the Secret Service to be 30 percent female by 2030 as part of a “diversity” push. The results of DEI being very evident in the three female agents and their actions on video during and after the shooting. In spite of accepting responsibility for the fiasco, she refused to step down. Cheatle even hinted that the Secret Service’s excuse is “it’s THEIR fault,” pointing to local police.
She is slated to testify before the House Oversight Committee on July 22.
OBSERVATION - Many, many opinions running rampant out there. The revelations yesterday have done little to narrow the gap between conspiracy and morbidly gross incompetence by the SS. While the police may have screwed up royally, the SS still had operational control and over sight and that failed. The removal of Trumps permanent detachment and replacement with a bunch of rookies and DEI hires is more diabolical. Those rookies could well have been assigned to Jill Biden’s party instead. That shifting of protection alone - still raises red flags of a potential conspiracy. The wild card continues to be Crooks. Was he identified by groomers several years ago from the black rock video? If so, are there others out there since who’d have imagined the campaign schedule that would have brought trump to that corner of PA where Crooks could have access. What was his motivation for shooting Trump if not groomed? Mental problems from being a bullied and geeky teen? Why/ how did he get away with nearly 30 minutes of open preparation to shoot without being seriously questioned or detained?
My conspiracy red flags are still flying, and I really don’t like that.

Trump’s arrival at the RNC convention was welcomed with thunderous ovations. This follows his announcement of JD Vance to be his VP.
The selection of Vance has caused all kinds of reactions. The RINOS like Romney detested Vance, the democrat dropped their ‘play nice’ efforts (announced by biden just the night before) with vitriol and hate. Many more view the selection as the right one - a fighter who openly supports an America First agenda and is setting up to carry the Trump agenda into 2028 (or as insurance should the left wage anther attempt on his life).

A Florida judge has dismissed the US justice department’s classified documents case against Donald Trump in a huge victory for the former president just days after a gunman attempted to assassinate him.
Judge Aileen Cannon granted Mr Trump’s motion to dismiss the federal case on the basis that the justice department’s appointment of special prosecutor Jack Smith violates the Appointments Clause of the US Constitution.
Judge Cannon cited three times in her decision a concurring opinion by Justice Thomas in the Supreme Court ruling in which he questioned whether there was a legal basis for naming special counsel.
DoJ/Smith have reportedly appealed the decision to the 11th Circuit - a court overseen by USSC Justice Thomas.

Major General Ghassan Alian, head of the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) tweeted on Monday to express harsh criticism of the head of UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, who professed himself shocked by the IDF attacks on the agency’s compounds in the Gaza Strip.
“These are the things that should shock you,” Alian began. “You allowed Hamas to develop a terrorist infrastructure almost in all the agency’s facilities, and paid for years to Hamas terrorists who are employed in the UNRWA agency.”
“Hamas stole your fuel and equipment over the years, and worst of all, even after we informed you of Hamas’s deep involvement in UNRWA prior to October 7th, you did nothing with all that information,” he accused.
“That is what is shocking. All your other statements are just an attempt to evade your own and the organization’s responsibility,” Alian concluded.

Fighting locations and levels are pretty much the same across the board. IDF continues to identify and quickly target key Hamas and Hezbollah leaders. Some ground combat is declining in Gaza with increasing emphasis being directed towards Hezbollah and the impending fight there. We are half way thru July and are entering a potential window for call up of reserver forces to give them the necessary ramp up time for the fight in Lebanon. IDF leaders are discussing the need to increase force strength, so such reserver callups may soon come.
