PING!
I miss Sam. Thirty years now.
I sure do miss Sam Kinison.
As you know, he used to be a Pentecostal Preacher before his comedic days. I’ve watched some of his sermons on Youtube he used to give.
Yeah. He made a much better comedian than he did preacher.
She was an Ambassador to the UN.
Omg.
Countries around the world laugh at us.
Rodney Dangerfield: “I like the way this guy thinks!”
The Sam Kinison story is amazing.
He caught his wife cheating on him, got divorced, had to leave his job as a preacher...and he was ticked off...
His comedic anger was the real deal—and that was the key to his success.
His rants on AIDs were hilarious.
“Well are there any straight people in the audience with AIDS. (Holds hands to ear—hears nothing.)
Yup—thought not.”
He was followed around by leftist protesters for years.
(Sam Kinnison voice) “you live in a desert, MOVE!”
He was notably quiet and modest offstage, at least in my experience. Plenty of demons though, for sure.
Stick a fork in her... she’s done.
Next ...
I had been ignoring Nikki.
Now I am laughing at her.
Agreed. He was the laugh machine of my generation.
But was she inaccurate as to her knowledge of history?
Those fighting for the south and those voting to exit the Union believed in the right of States to do so. Only a very small percent owned slaves.
Nikki was correct she just didn’t parrot modern talking. points about the Civil War (a/k/a War of Northern Aggression).
And I’m saying this mostly amused at the ignorance on display fro our press.
Lincoln suspended habeas corpus, jailed reporters, and sent troops to shut down ‘mostly peaceful protestors’ over an unpopular force draft. In short, he acted as a dictator.
There’s now complete federal dominance of what our Founders envisioned as a ‘checks and balances’ system where the feds blackmail states into following whatever directives they have and federal judges routinely trump the actions of elected state legislatures and officials.
A robust ‘states’ rights’ system would, for instance, easily solve immigration with Texas and Arizona controlling their own borders.
Ummm... If you look at the actual Declaration of Causes of Seceding States you will see that slavery is highlighted by the seceding states themselves as THE reason for secession. History is what it WAS, not what we wish it had been. For example, this is from the Declaration of Secession of South Carolina, Nikki Haley's state:
A geographical line has been drawn across the Union, and all the States north of that line have united in the election of a man to the high office of President of the United States, whose opinions and purposes are hostile to slavery. He is to be entrusted with the administration of the common Government, because he has declared that "Government cannot endure permanently half slave, half free," and that the public mind must rest in the belief that slavery is in the course of ultimate extinction.
I agree it was a reason - among others.
But it wasn’t the sole reason.
In fact, if you asked Robert E. Lee or the average Confederate soldier why they were fighting the independence of their state likely first on the list.

It was the MAIN reason. No logical person can believe that without slavery there would have been a Civil War.
I miss Sam Kinison too. Was watching “I am Sam Kinison” today, he was funny, even didn’t need the blue humor, but I have to admit that last scene he did with his own death is fascinating. I wonder if he was really talking to ‘someone’, who it was and I hope he went on to a sweeter world.
But what a drag, just got away from the drugs and alcohol, cleaned up, career on the rise, six days into his new marriage.
Why didn’t the judge give a stiffer sentence to that drunk driving kid?
