The acquisition of 3.4 million acres of U.S. agricultural land by foreign entities in 2020, nearly 2% of the entire U.S. landmass, is a serious threat to national sovereignty. Driven by foreign-controlled wind energy projects, this trend has increased since 2017, with diverse ownership from countries like the United Arab Emirates, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, and others. Congress recently removed provisions addressing this, indicating a failure to protect national interests.

200 some odd pot farms owned and operated by chinese in the state of Maine

I’m going against the grain to state that the VAST majority of these purchases are harmless and often even good for markets. Much of the money, particularly Chinese, is money that’s fleeing bad economies or comminism for safe harbor.
After the 2008 crash, it was largely foreign investors that got markets back up off their asses.
This is not to say we should let shady foreign companies buy up land around military bases or next to ag ops to steal seeds or whatever, but shutting down all foreign RE investment is not altogether wise.
If the buyers ever become adversaries or enemies, we can just confiscate it, like many countries do.
Foreigners can't take the land out of the country
Bloated government at all levels have also demonstrated to us already - you don't even own the land you think you own. Don't pay the property taxes, build a shed without a permit, create a pond, shoot some guns - and you'll find out how quickly your property rights end. Foreigners even more so.
Just imagine some Russian oligarch owned a Ranch in Wyoming - in a crisis, how quickly would Fed.gov steal that property from him/her?
Besides, America is deep in debt at all levels. We've got to sell something to keep the party going...
The top 10 foreign owners of US ag land are Canadian and from nine European countries. Nothing odd or suspicious.
Chinese purchases for spying or other questionable uses needs to be halted altogether.
