The reason the Marxists are doing it, is because it is a win win for them. If the Republicans go along with removal, then the Republicans lose votes of people who are fed up with the Republicans being pussies and losing the war on art, while the Dems will hope to stop hemmorhaging black voters, will keep woke voters, and will pick up leftleaning independents for being socially just.
If the Republicans vote against the removal, they won’t gain anything and any sthe Dems will keep their voters happy, and perhaps gain votes by claiming it is proof the republicans are racist, which will also cause people in the GOP who are embarrassed by anyone defending confederate art to not vote.
The GOP has nothing to gain by thwarting the destruction of the memorial- not enough people care.
And that's how the Nazis came to power, because not enough people cared to stop them.
