Certainly not...nor would I have disqualified any slave from seeking independence from Jefferson. People and nations are not perfect. I expect them to improve; if not, I avoid them. The genius of America is it's ability to improve. The civil war was in my view an attempt at improvement. I have not yet given up hope.

Unless you view southern secession as an improvement - which I don’t think you do - then you must mean you view the war against the South a northern attempt at improvement.
