Orban ... told state radio he had blocked the aid to ensure Budapest gets EU money that is frozen over concerns about the rule of law in Hungary.
"It is a great opportunity for Hungary to make it clear that it must get what it is entitled to," he said.
“this $50B being blocked is various forms of financial (economic) aid.”
That is true. Military assistance from European Countries keeps flowing, coordinated in the Ukraine Contact Group (Ramstein Conference), and through NATO planning and coordination.
Also, this 50 Billion euros were to be spread over 3 or 4 years, and to be 2/3rds loans, and only 1/3 grants.
It was a plus up to already approved loans and grants, so it is not a showstopper economically either.
“Orban is doing this to unfreeze EU money” (20 billion euros for Hungary still frozen)
He still has to vote to admit Sweden to NATO first. Maybe next month.
Orbán must not hold EU hostage over Ukraine, Macron says.

"As leaders of the European Union start working on the details of plan B to raise the money through cash and loans, the French president said Orbán was being dishonest to the public about his reasons for vetoing the financial package and would ultimately come around...
...“The question is how we move forward collectively. And for me, the next few months are decisive months for Hungary and for us,” said Macron...
...Diplomats and EU leaders have made it clear they would prefer the Ukraine fund to come from the central budget, but if it does not, they can find the €50bn (£43bn), made up of €17bn cash and €33bn in loans, without Orbán."
