What are you patriotic to, then? People like Johnson and Jackson, a flag, a military, a congress? None of those things benefit from your patriotism unless they support the individual rights they are put in place to defend.

If you've read the whole thing, then you know just how cast adrift we have been. The smirking, smiling faces who claim to have our backs - don't.

I would modify "few years ago 90%..."
to: "six decades ago 90%..."

Patriotism to the idea of America, the same idea America was conceived in, built upon, hoped, dreamed and fought for and the same idea that as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.

America has always been an idea and we Americans have been living in a dream world because we knew it was the best ideas to ever come along.

No we don't, we need the idea of America to believe in and fight for.

You would not be wrong, sir. Progressive rot set in at the turn of the last century, one might say. There are a handful of us here, perhaps more who understand that history and its implications. The prospect of free men and free minds going about their business was anathema not only to the rest of the world, but also to others in this country. And they set about tearing it down almost from the start.
