I saw a desert tortoise who was walking along a dirt road in Kingman, AZ. I stopped the car to take his picture and he stopped and posed and then moved on.

I had a cat who lived to be 19.

The neighbor behind us has a very old tortoise. She’s had him at least 20 years. Two or three times he has somehow escaped her yard and come to our yard. We call her and she retrieves her tortoise. How that I think about it, i’s been a long while since he last snuck over to our place.

When I was five I found a turtle. I kept him in a shallow tray in the garage. One day I moved the tray to the hood of my mom’s car. I forgot to put it back.

She went somewhere and didn’t see it till she hit the brakes and the turtle and tray shot off the hood.

End of turtle.
