That’s a sweet calico!
Good morning. Did you have a good night?
Yesterday was more stressful on me than I imagined, as I fell asleep at 1930 but I only woke up long enough to check the clock (0410) and fell back asleep until the alarm rang at 0500. I forgot to reset it to 0600 when I went to bed. Unngh.
Nothing planned for today but maybe writing to Charlie and sending a card to Carol. Oh. And maybe I can decorate the tree! ;o]
Tomorrow is our Christmas breakfast at the church, and Annette is going to pick me up for it. I like the way they have things in the daytime here. In Cabot, everything was scheduled for the evenings, even if it’s on a Saturday. So I usually had to miss the functions.
It’s 31Β° out and only 68 where I am. *shudder*
Cold here, too. Not bad, though. I didn’t turn my alarm on, but I woke up spot on 5:20, even without a reminder from Jake.
I probably would have awakened at 0630 at the latest, but I wanted to heat the bathroom up for a shower.
“Oh!” she says, looking at the stack of papers on her desk, “maybe I should do the filing today!” On second thought, “Or tomorrow after the breakfast!”
Good Friday Morning!
I picked a good day yesterday to go to town to stock up on supplies... today appears to be damp, and rainy later... better bring in some firewood early for tonight’s fire...

(This Par on the 17th hole keeps me at 8 under (59) for the round... β³οΈ)
I keep losing track of the days and find that usually a week passes between each game for me. They’re just too easy to solve, any more.
I've noticed that of late... I always figure that it has to do with the starter word that I have been using, it has been revealing a LOT of good clues (either hits and/or misses) lately... but I am also wondering if it is because the list of already used words is growing quite long....
Among all the other fun of this holiday season, the switch in our shredder that gets triggered when you insert paper broke. So now I'm looking for a new one. It needs to be fairly powerful because we expect to have to do a lot of shredding when it's time to handle the in-laws estate.
This one is a Fellows, which is supposed to be a good brand. That's a fairly weak looking piece of plastic for that switch, though.
I bought a Fellowes in probably 2016. It has been dropped I don’t know how many times and moved three times, over REALLY bumpy roads in some places, and it just keeps right on going. I don’t know how much I paid for it, probably under $100, but I’ll hate to part with it when it finally bites the dust.
You should contact Fellowes and tell them of the problem. They may replace the whole thing for free.
Well, each day represents a word, so there have been 909 words used so far. I don’t know how many 5-letter words there are in the English language (Hold that thought!) — “171,476 words in current use (and 47,156 obsolete words).”
So we have quite a few to barrel through!

You are having a whale of a round!
At 182 yards this hole shouts for a long iron throttled back. It’s well within range of a strong 5, but a 3 iron, hold the mustard, was my pick here on the 17th tee, and it proved to be a good choice.
Like catching a tiger by the tail, the trouble with getting onto a challenging green is deciding what to do next. I had a lie at the leading edge of the putting surface, and the pin was placed in the crook of the green to the nearer right side giving me a challenging putt in the realm of 30ft, give or take. “Take” proved to be the order of the day, as my stroke slowed up a bit sooner than I wanted, and curled gently to the left to leave me with a tap-in to make par.
So evaporated my penultimate chance to advance on the board. I move on, now, to the closer, the mighty par 5 18th, holding at 6 under.

Friend had a cat that would jump up, and swing on the door handle, and kick the door frame with his hind legs, thus opening it.
The 18th.
The “Finisher.”
By the scorecard, 541 yards, par 5 and a good shot at a closeout Birdie; maybe even an Eagle if you can muster the puissance.
No pressure.
Driving off the tee I went for broke and bombed it over the foaming Pacific brine holding my breath until the shot touched down on something green, and bounced to a stop at the left edge of the fairway about even with the tree midway along. Getting on from here? Quite literally a long shot, but I made an honest attempt. Pitting my longest hybrid club against both sea and sand I sought to defy the odds and find the green. Shooting right along the sea shore, taunting the embrace of that massive flanking bunker, my ball came to rest in the grass of the fairway, abreast of the tree that stands to the right as you approach the green. No the lie I had hoped for, I was close, nonetheless. Chipping on now, still with a legitimate shot at an Eagle to finish, I lofted the ball into the air straight at the flag, and watched as it bounced onto the green, rolled toward the pin, followed the undulating turf, and traced a slow, heartbreaking arc off course, coming to a stop mere inches to the right of the cup.
Taking my tap-in Birdie as my consolation prize, I closed the round here with a 7 under par 65, a few new tales to tell, and a song in my head.

These are very challenging greens!
Good Saturday Morning!
Hoping that everyone has something nice (and relaxing!) lined up for the weekend... not much rain materialized yesterday... a bit less than 0.25” in the rain gauge... the house stayed fairly warm all day into the night, so skipped the fire until this morning when I woke up to a chilly 40 degrees F outside...
Finally a green that looked to be fairly easy to read... thinking it appropriate to close out with a Birdie on this final hole of a most amazing course, I pushed forward and watched the roll.... in for the Birdie!

Another precious cali!
Good morning. Did you sleep well? No Interruptions By Jake to contend with?
I slept well except for that text about Carol’s passing. I’ve been having very good nights, lately. Which I like. I was awake for about an hour after that, but then slept until 0530. And forced me to sleep again for another hour.
I don’t know whether I’ll go to the breakfast this morning. I’m still deciding. I need to activate my phone this morning, but the hard part is transferring everything from my old phone. Unngh.
Ohgolly! Now I have to get a new phone case! I have to have some padding on the phone in case its dropped.
