Hi, all!
We’re back from Kanab and I have a shy eight year-old brownish floof who was originally named “Hugo,” but has been re-named “Chocolate Chip Pi,” in honor of my favorite dessert and the day of the adoption. He will be called “Chip,” for ease on the tongue.
He was pretty stressed by the time they were able to get him into the carrier, so he and his monstrous eyes are sitting quietly in the middle of the floor while I do this, and sort the pills (enough for today, at least) and let him unlax for a bit before I let him out of the carrier.
He’s not big (I opted for smaller!) maybe 8#-9# and was described as “shy.” Which suits me just fine.
Anyway, I need to sort pills but I’ll be back!
The ‘Face is a little stressed, as well, because it was a long day, and it’s not over with yet!
I am very happy for you and Chip, which is a much better name than “Hugo,” and catz don’t care anyway.
Congratulations to you and Chip!
I think it was Robert Redford in “An Unfinished Life” who asked, “Why would you name something that doesn’t come when you call it?”
Best wishes for you and your new pet! 🐻
It’s not an irrational question. On the other hand, why do we name ships? Why do we name storms? If nothing else, it’s useful to have a specific referent.
Elen can’t just say “the orange cat,” because both her cats are orange.
Awww... Hugs for both you and the new floof...
Oh, I am so happy for you and your new floof! I can’t wait to see pics of Chip. Yay!!
Thanks! The pills are sorted, and I got the food figured out for him. They gave me a case of gooshy floof fudz, so Chip will have enough to last him for quite some time. I just scooped a soupspoonful of it into one of his dishes, mixed up the shelter food with some of the dry food I have and put that in one, and added some bottled water into the third dish. (The tap water her is too hard for a senior cat’s urinary system!)
It’s late in the day, the bed isn’t made, I just got some lunch, and I’ll go into the living room in a bit and turn the carrier around so Chip can watch me as I come and go.
I will need to read all his protocol, but maybe I can do that tomorrow morning while I’m waiting for the tires to be installed and my grocery order to be filled, which I will pick up on my way out of the parking lot.
When I get home, tomorrow, I’ll see about bonding time with Chip and see if does sleepovers tonight. He’s very quiet!
Thanks!
It’s time!
As soon as I can coax him out and to stay still long enough, I’ll send pics. He reminds me of the Meezer!
Fangs!
Thanks! We’re gonna be a good fit, I think!
Was someone looking for a kitten?
Good morning!
I hope your night was good, with no Interruptions By Jake.
I saw a gorgeous mackerel kitty yesterday. Oddly enough, the calicos were more and larger than any other color of cat in there, with marmalades running a close second. But there were also a lot of Siamese-types, but they all had long hair.
Chip and a couple of others were chocolates, but I think there was on one tuxedo and one black.
But we were in the senior/disabled house, so the teens and young adults were housed elsewhere, and the kittens in another place entirely. It is a HUGH rescue sanctuary and covers about two square miles and I don’t know how many outbuildings.
Chip finally emerged from the carrier around 2000 last night and is currently under the bed, I think. I knew he was stressed yesterday. The guy that chased him down and caught him was big and not gentle, though I don’t doubt he loved the cats he was working with.
I don’t know when I’ll see Chip again, but he’ll come out when he’s ready. He was described as “shy,” so he may hide a majority of time for the first month. Since the bedroom has blackout curtains, he may not come out except to eat!
It’s 41° today, which is warmer than yesterday, and it’s raining. It’s that storm that CO is getting, with lots of snow for them and gentle rain for us. Even Las Vegas is getting some of this one! Much needed of course. It’s supposed to rain today and tomorrow and maybe it will begin to warm up more after this last little bit of winter.
They don't come because you can't possibly be talking to them!
Good morning. Happy Friday!
We have rain. It’s supposed to last most of the morning. But temperatures are in the 40s so it’s not bad.
I looked up the 1000th Wordle yesterday and found out there were lots of things going on to celebrate. Whoodathunkit. I don’t think any of them are happening here, though.
I managed to get the word, but no exciting score or anything. It’s my 797th game.
