“Yes they are.”

No... This is not all Biden’s fault although I would love to claim so. I have watched my competitors price fix and price gouge all my life. I know exactly what their costs are because I buy from the very same distributors and I know what they are paying for and charging for the very same product. I also know exactly what their overhead is almost to the penny despite extremely small variables because mine are the same. Contrary to popular belief, competitors communicate with each other more than one would think.

And this is happening throughout all industries just as it always has. Everyone is just not honest about it like I am and staying tight lipped about their own greed. And it is time to expose it because it is helping to break this country.

” In a free market, this cannot happen - competition will quickly crush the collaborating opportunists.

Under our fascist system, with government privilege extended to favored operators, such behavior is not uncommon. But only certain key players get to take advantage of it.”

Absolutely! I actually remember when we had a free market system. Long before all the extremely expensive regulations cut out the small guys.

Remember last year when ranchers had to kill chickens, when freight companies canceled transport contracts for cattle feed, when milk had to be destroyed, when fertilizer was not being delivered?

The Covid response was a massive transfer of wealth upwards. This is a major problem.

Your argument would be valid if the US was a capitalist country.

Profit margins at grocery chains are razor thin. Research it if you don’t believe it. Drought has added a lot of cost, but the big culprit is our own central government. Shoppers see the final result in the store, but know very little about what goes on beforehand. Federal regulation is a major reason costs continue to rise, and it’s getting worse. Inflation is bad (another Washington source), but it fluctuates due to numerous causes, most of which originate from Washington as well. If you want the price of things to go down, the size and scope of Washington must be reduced. Washington is like a giant malignancy which does nothing but grow, and it’s sucking the life out of our country.

Undercut them and drive them out of business, if you can handle the volume.

And Corporatism very much so deserves to be scrutinized

Followed by regulation, of course! Corporate greed is the evil side of capitalism!

Bigger government! Sounds like a great idea, with the best of intentions! What could go wrong?

Here is something else most don’t know or remember. Back when we had that free market economy vendors had no problems with sharing their real costs with the customers. They didn’t hide them because customers actually appreciated knowing that the prices charged were fair and competitive prices after considering the cost and quality of the product.

Honesty about “Mark up” over cost was where the real competition was in pricing. It was impossible to price gouge because the customer knew what ALL vendors were paying for the same product wholesale. “Shopping” was a search for the lowest mark up over cost, not the lowest price after hidden mutual gouging or fixing.

Communists always blame greed instead of their own policies.

“Undercut them and drive them out of business, if you can handle the volume.”

And I was one of the few in the market area who did indeed do this. And I’ll tell you what, even though it served me well, for years it was a brutal war with all the other competitors who were pissed. Death threats, gun play, vandalism, sabotage, lawsuits with the Chamber of Commerce and crony City/County counsels over licenses and permits, targeting for code enforcement and regulation, Etc. The radical greed and extremism is off the charts when you are honest and stand on principle and refuse to play along with their greedy crooked game against the consumers.

There is absolutely no way anyone can tell me there is no crooked greed in business. I have lived it and battled it all my life because I refuse to play along.

The author should tell his readers how much he charges for the groceries HE produces and sells.

The price of eggs is up markedly and laundry detergent is extortionate.

Shop the sales as best you can...

And this is a good time of year to do it and stock up. A lot of stuff always goes on sale for the holidays.

“Communists always blame greed instead of their own policies.”

The irony is, there own big leftist corporate monopolies are the principle actors in the price fixing and price gouging. But in no way are they the only ones doing it...

See #52. I live this reality everyday.

Very few people grow vegetable gardens, can, freeze, or in many cases cook.

I wouldn't say very few people can have gardens. Some can, but almost everyone can learn how to can and freeze, and absolutely cook.

If you don't sell your goods or services at a loss, then you're "greedy".

Nonsense. Nobody begrudges someone making a profit.

But blatant greed is well known to happen and while it may be legal, it isn't right.
