a legally binding resolution that would restrict or outlaw the use of AI killer dronesanother unilateral disarmament. Can't put AI in jail.

I guess we would have to equip our troops with something like an IFF beacon if these things were to be used on the battlefield.

I’ve seen that movie before...and it doesn’t end well for humanity. Also brings to mind that lyric from Jethro Tull’s “Locomotive Breath”...
“Runs the all-time loser
Headlong to his death”

There's a discipline of paranormal research that revolves around Out Of Place artifacts (OOParts). The finding of archeological objects that are technologically way more advanced than should be possible for the historical times that given strata would indicate. Sometimes by millions of years.
Why do I bring this up? Because after our approaching war with AI, I find it perfectly reasonable that whatever descendants of ours somehow survive might react by burying all traces of technology and go full Amish.
And this might not be our first near suicidal rodeo.

Skynet was the system in Terminator.
All those years of warning, “Do you want Skynet? This is how you get Skynet.” It’s here!

“Skynet was the system in Terminator.”
That’s kind of what I remember from the movie series. Thanks.

As much as I’d miss the things I learn from the people smarter than I am, and there’s a lot of them, here on this platform. I think reverting to the pre digital age would actually help the human race.

And what the Left seeks is something like,
The United States government is on the verge of deploying new artificial intelligence technology (AI) weapons that can make decisions on whether to silence human targets.
The frightening censorious autonomous weapons, which are being developed in the United States, China, and Russia, will automatically select humans deemed a “threat” to the official ideological system and silence them.

As somebody that has been in software and embedded systems for over 30 years, while now pushing AI technology into commercial applications, I’ve told my (Marine) son a few times..the Terminator is inevitable (imho).
Some aspects are still sci-fi...especially the supposed power source. But from a compute perspective, faking voices, navigating environments, face recognition, etc. - it really just needs to be put together into a single unit. What Boston Dynamics has accomplished is amazing too (almost a gymnast!). Plus, the first few movies only had to contend with a single Terminator, while the reality will be many wirelessly connected and orchestrated Terminators.
...if it can be done, if there’s the motivation, and the resources...it will be done. We could try to create international law to make them illegal - but does anyone think that will stop China? It’s almost a race to be first....like the atom bomb.
