You should not be scared of pit mixes. They are generally sweeter than chihuahuas, love kittens and children. Heelers on the other hand....

A few years ago I looked into adopting a shelter dog and all of them for a 50 mile radius were pitbull or pit mixes. Same in my area. PetSmart was having an adoption event in the parking lot a couple of years ago. About 2 dozen dogs. All but one were pits.

When I looked at shelter dogs available they are advertised as terriers and upon further scrutiny, they are pill bulls.
