It never fails, every time we leave, my wife tells me to turn around, because she thinks she left the flat iron plugged in.

And every single time it turns out she didn’t.

I’ve left church to go home to see if I turned off the iron. I’d just wait it out if we didn’t have cats that could jump up and knock things over. Than I bought some little cubes from Amazon where you can choose the outlet to be live in increments of 15, 30, 60 minutes. I always choose 30. One for the iron. One for the curling iron.
