I knew WW2 vets who had a very negative attitude about the Red Cross.

One man who served in Normandy with the 30th. Infantry Division told me when ever their ‘’Doughnut Mobile’’ showed up they'd charge the GI’s a dime for a doughnut and a cup of coffe.

Just how many guys able to survive combat in that hell hole had spare change on them I don't know but he did tell me one of his buddies didn't have any money, just ammo for his rifle.

He started arguing with one of the ‘’doughnut dollies’’ because she wouldn't serve him.

A lieutenant heard this, walked over, pulled out his .45 and said "How much is it lady?''. After that coffee and doughtnuts were ''on the house''.

I learned about their corruption around the time that the March of Dimes was outed.

Same here. Dad had some kind of run in with the Red Cross during WWII. I learned as a young child that our family doesn’t ever give to the “RED CROSS”.
