When my elder son was 2-3 he was loud. Not fit throwing, just a loud little boy, as some are. In response to “Don’t yell, son. Remember what happened to Old Yeller,” I taught him to respond “He met an ignominious end.” Of course he hadn’t the slightest idea, and I’d have this exchange with him in front of my family and friends for our amusement at having such a very little boy say such a thing.
Only when he saw the movie several years later did he understand I’d been threatening to shotgun him.
