I twice attempted to post the news of the death of the Baltimore Orioles and MLB great and Hall of Famer, Brooks Robinson. Both times I posted it to General Chat with a keyword of Sports and both times some Mod pulled it saying I posted it to the wrong forum. I think that nickcaraway also had his post pulled.
I do not understand why these posts were pulled.

Yes. Try and debate with the pro-Ukrainian hack FReepers.
They’ll run to the Mods and hit the abuse button and get your posts removed.
Yes - I did.
They gotta go. Its exhausting. 10 years ago they would have been zotted.
Well, can i just say, this thread was enlightening and entertaining. /Sarcasm
Admin mods have never done stuff in a “friendly” or “helpful” way. Why would anyone expect them to start today.
Or maybe he doesn’t like Expat in PA lol!!
That issue arises when you stop “debating” and start making reference to others’ parentage and their sexual relations.
Try debating instead of insulting. It will work wonders for you. Da?
Oh maybe he doesn’t like PA. I feel a Viking Kitty sneaking up on me.
No, you didn’t. The reason given for being pulled both times was that it was posted to News Activism which it wasn’t. I will also say that the search function on FR sucks.
There is anecdotal evidence that some long time Freepers are disappearing from the site. I hope they aren’t leaving or being banned because we are supposed to only espouse certain views.
I thought the whole point of Free Republic is that we are free to espouse whatever views we want. And then discuss and debate back and forth.
Lol... Zttt!! (Zott to the top!)
really?! we are all entitled to the closest holy rollers opinion.
They pulled the post because they wanted to. They pulled it because they could. Why they wanted to is anybody’s guess. They could be having a bad period. They may just wanted something to do.
> I thought the whole point of Free Republic is that we are free to espouse whatever views we want <
Not really. JimRob has made it clear that this is a conservative website with Judeo-Christian values. Stray from that, and you’ll probably get the zot.
Stay within those parameters, and the mods will be pretty lenient. Not perfect. But pretty lenient.
> People put effort into their posts. Deleting them in an unfriendly way makes no sense on a website that is run on goodwill and donations. <
“I can understand why the mods would sometimes get exasperated by posts that obviously break the rules.
Nevertheless, you make a good point.”
Absolutely. As a domain owner and moderator I have made this point many times. It is counter productive and could run people away. My observations are that it has been extremely limited for quite awhile though. But can this place actually afford to be too arrogant, heavy handed, or micromanage too strongly? While participation and donations are already dropping like crazy?
Exercising “tact” and simple courtesy in moderation can go a long way towards accomplishing the same end result without the risk of any animosity. I can share that there is already scuttlebutt on the side about the operations and lack of transparency here.
Too soon.
“There is anecdotal evidence that some long time Freepers are disappearing from the site. I hope they aren’t leaving or being banned because we are supposed to only espouse certain views.”
I can tell you this is a fact. Participation and donations are down because folks are jumping ship for several reasons including arrogant moderation.
I hate to see it. It makes absolutely no sense to step on the hand that feeds you. Unless you actually don’t need it?
Hanging around to see where this ends up...
And the next hand grenade serve is to the Admin Moderator.
You want some cheese with this whine? I recommend Velveeta for you because of your lack of tact.
Insults have always been part of FR 😃
