I hate it but a 6 week ban won’t sell in must win states like Pennsylvania or Michigan. It’s highly unlikely that a 15 week ban can pass Congress either. The politically smart thing to do IMO is to go for a 30 week Federal ban. I’m betting that Dems will oppose that and we can paint them as the real extremists on this issue. I fully agree with allowing states to enact near total bans.
Am I missing something here? In our Constitution, abortion cannot be a Federal issue, because it states that "anything not mentioned herein [as abortion, murder, and many other things are not], is left, respectively, to the States or to the People." (I think I have the quotation right.)
No one is more pro-life than I am, and I will work and give like crazy to turn around my own sorry State and the other Leftist death camps. But we should not try to go beyond the agreement the States made with each other more than 200 years ago. Why? Because we would be opening the door for the Feds one day to fulfill the Democrats' dreams through a perpetual COVID-Communism lockdown, speech control, and thought control. How do we know? They're already trying.
The way to win the battle for life is evangelism for life and mercy--not taking illegitimate control of authority that in the rough-and-tumble of national politics inevitably will fall to others who have no scruples.
State sovereignty is our best defense against tyranny. People who live in abortionist tyrant states will be moving to pro-life states to escape the gulags and the stupidity. And the gulag states will have to blunt their idiocy somewhat, just to keep their citizens.

This is NOT a federal issue. A federal ban is unconstitutional, that’s how Row got overturned. You need a constitutional amendment to have a ban. Why can’t people get that and keep talking about federal banns?
