This is a great post. Williams truly was The Hillbilly Shakespeare.
But…
“ “….. I’m in love, I’m in love with a beautiful gal That’s what’s the matter with me ….. “ (Has any poet ever written a better couplet than this?)”
Hank did not write this song. It was actually written before he was born.
Williams did change some words and made it a classic.
Why do so many creative powerhouses have personal lives resembling train wrecks?
Regards,
No, No, Joe--Luke the Drifter (Hank Williams), 1950
Move It On Over--Hank Williams (1947)
This tune was apparently inspired by Hank's hit.
Dog House Boogie--Dog House Boogie--Hawkshaw Hawkins (1948)
I can play every song he wrote and covered.
Blessing/curse type of thing.
Same with Townes Van Zandt.
Hank was something else.
I have lap steels thanks to Hank. Though I use an overdrive and a wah wah with mine.
I like Juniors songs like this one.
