“DeSantis lacks all of the qualities that make a good candidate – charm, charisma, discipline, being likeable.” This is my impression of him too. But that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be good, even outstanding, once in office. He may have jumped in too soon, perhaps at the urging of anyone-but-Trump supporters. He’s clearly dead in the water this time around, but is he permanently damaged?

Stop and think where he would have been if his inflated hubris and big-money brokers hadn't convinced him to run for president. If he had remained loyal to Trump, he may have been his VP choice. Now he is sitting on top of a huge pile of national political wreckage. He can rebound, but only after continuing to work on building his record as the best governor in the country. As I have repeatedly said, he's no self-made multimillionaire so when the outside money drys up it's all over.

Maybe not damaged forever but no one should ever assume hrs MAGA or an anti establishment candidate. The idea that he can run an insurgency candidacy is dead but not only insurgents win (clearly an unfortunate reality).
