Pay to play politics is the lowest bar for impeachment. It should lead to automatic conviction. Trump was impeached over a nothing phone call and again illegally after he left office because his political demonstration got too rowdy despite his calls for peaceful protesting.
Democrats play hardball and the GOP plays whiffle ball. The majority is slim, but if you cannot persuade swing district D’s that this is the dictionary definition of a defensible vote, that’s on the speaker. As others have pointed out, Pelosi whipped vulnerable D’s to impeach over nonsense twice.
