No matter how Western historians have rewritten the past, America actually helped Communism take root in Russia. The American General William S. Graves played an instrumental role in the destruction of the loyalist Whites, and the propagation of the Communist Reds. Graves so despised Monarchy that he was willing that all Russia should wither and die under blood-soaked atheist rule rather than should czar rise again in Eastern Christendom. References Birtle, A. I had never heard of this before.
Same.
Helping Lenin was Germany’s way of easing the eastern front in WWI.
I don’t know what Graves thought he was “helping”, but if he actually bore no love for Communism, his efforts in Russia would not be the first nor the last where “democracy” minded individuals helped authoritarians come to power, by particpating in revloutions where coalitions were opposed to the incumbent power and where the authoritarians in that coaltion assumed the new reigns of power.
“Hating Monarchy” was the “globalist progressivism” and a 19th century virtue-signaling cause célèbre, when this man’s character was formed.
Now in the 21st century, after having seen Marxism abroad and at home (we aren’t finished with it yet) - If forced to choose, I would gladly fight for any monarch over any communist.
I had heard that American industrialist helped Stalin in the 30’s and the US suppled the Russians with weapons during ww2 and harry hopkins in rhe fdr admin kept Stalin abreast of us abomb developments while us scientists provided him with designs to make his own abomb. The kalishbikov is a uniquely designed Russian weapon which is why you have heard of it. Bur for the most part Russians like the Chinese copy American designs. The Chinese also copy Russian designs.

Who were those who espoused “globalist progressivism” at that time???
Woodrow Wilson and his ilk
General Graves had a small force (<10,000), a vast area of operations, and orders not to engage in politics. Not uniquely, he did not find much to like in the imperious and ambitious White warlord of the eastern theater, Admiral Kolchak. Even if he had the will and backing of the US Government, it is very questionable whether Graves had the resources to make a difference in defeating the Bolsheviki.
“Experts” can no doubt concoct compelling scenarios where if Graves had done x at one critical juncture, and y at another, and “supported” Kolchak more aggressively, the Whites would have won the Civil War. Coulda-woulda-shoulda’s are fun but too many other factors doomed the White cause to pin blame on Graves definitively. The Whites did not have an appealing program to gain popular support, and were neither ruthless enough nor powerful enough to force themselves on the country.
Now we have American Generals helping the Communists take over the US.
You can read Graves’s account of events here:

Graves’s papers are held at the Hoover Institution:

Military intelligence files indicate that part of Graves’s issue with Kolchak was that Kolchak was promoting anti-Semitism, while Graves was heavily reliant on Russian Jewish interpreters to interact with Russian forces.

When Stalin launched a program to confiscate art, jewelry, and other valuables, Armond Hammer (later CEO of Occidental Petroleum) acted as his fence.
Never forget Linda Redgrave - hard to have a name more Commie-loving than that.
