It is easy to thump your chest about carriers when beating up the Viet Cong or mooselimbs with rusty AK-47s. Try beating up a peer level adversary that can target your boats with effective ordinance.

China is not now nor will it ever be A military peer to the United States. The Chinese would last about 36 hours against us in a kinetic action. I have my doubts they could actually take Taiwan. Its being bandied about that there has been a diplomatic handover. I would not be surprised if its true.
