Yep, so they dig in and let Ukraine destroy themselves trying to dig them out. Ukraine can’t win militarily. They need NATO (meaning us and maybe a token European force) to go in and do it for them.

The Russians are grinding Ukrainian into hamburger. That's the objective. Once the Ukrainian military is depleted enough, they can do whatever they want.

The objective was never to take the entire country but to liberate the ethnic Russian part of it, build a land bridge from Crimea to mainland Russia and take control of the Black Sea, which pretty much been accomplished.
