He beat Charlie Crist by 20 points in 2021. That’s hardly luck, except in the choice that FL Dems made to run a hapless opponent.

"He beat Charlie Crist by 20 points in 2021."

He almost got beat by the drug addicted homo Andrew Gillum in his first run. Hardly a win.

DeSantis and Charlie Crist are the only two Florida Governors who used the State Legislature to benefit themselves financially and politically. They both got the Legislature to overturn the "Resign to Run" law. In Crist's case, he thought he'd have a shot at being McCain's V.P. Rick Scott had the law changed back to its original form when he became Governor. In DeSantis's case, he thought he'd actually be more popular than Donald Trump. He apparently didn't have much faith in his Presidential run since he made sure he'd still get a paycheck on the campaign trail, and have a job to go back to when he crashed and burned. Crist and DeSantis are both self-serving prigs.

Crist was, as you say, a weak opponent. He changed parties as well. And Desantis outspent him 7:1. So I am not impressed that the win shows DeSantis as strong.
