You were correct in asking me to explain why.
If this had been 30 years ago, or possibly even 10 years ago, I might have said they’re the only country that even comes close in that region to sharing our values, and they’re the only ones who don’t want to see us all dead.
However, given where we are today, tens or hundreds of trillions of dollars in debt, depending on how debt is defined, I think we should be getting things in order in our own house.
I said in another post on another thread, that the three things that we as Americans should be most concerned about right now, are our electoral process, our fiscal situation, and our border situation.
If we don’t get those three things in order, our goose is cooked. Therefore, I don’t believe at this time we should be sending any amount of military aid to any country except in very specific instances.
Bottom line, I should’ve worded my post differently, because my brain was still 30 years in the past, as I wrote. What I would say today is:“we shouldn’t be sending military aid to anybody at this time, but if we were, Israel would be one that I would consider.“
That said, the way Israel has been treated by us on many occasions, I’m always surprised that they can view us as an ally . More often than not, if I were in their shoes, I would be telling the United States to go pound sand.
I agree that we should end ALL Foriegn Aid. Israel would be fine without it.
“That said, the way Israel has been treated by us on many occasions, I’m always surprised that they can view us as an ally”
Yeah, and they shot up the USS Liberty on purpose, and have always ran spies against us, and fell all over themselves to be the first to congratulate Biden when the Big Lie of his win was only 2 hours old.
They are not an enemy, but they deserve no better treatment than the average nation should get.
