I think most of us paying attention to this understood it and grasped its significance immediately.
Contrast it with the sentiments of a lot of people who see this as a good thing.
If any DOJ was serious about a special counsel for matters relating to Hunter Biden it would the appointment (a) would not be the DA who has already failed - and seriously slow walked - in his prosecution of Hunter Biden, and (b) would have to be, by the DOJ’s own rules, have to be someone who is independent and not part of the DOJ now. Weiss fails on all counts.
Why is every news report on this story using exactly the same headline?
To me, it feels like a premeditated agreement to disguise the fact that the "Special Counsel" is the exact SAME guy who investigated Hunter for FIVE years and...
(1) Let two felonies expire when the Statute of Limitations ran out.
(2) Reduced two felony tax crimes to misdemeanors.
(3) Deferred a gun related felony pending completion of drug treatment.
(4) And, released Hunter from any further investigation on any remaining issues if Hunter signed the plea agreement.
This is Prosecutorial fraud!
Abetted by Journalistic fraud!
Though they’re not subject to the day-to-day supervision of the Justice Department, special counsels must still comply with department regulations, policies and procedures. They also technically report to the attorney general — the one government official who can fire them. The attorney General reports to the POTUS. Interesting little peck order.

It is Joe ,more than Hunter, That needs the protection. Hunter is small fry compared to Joe. Have they looked how much Joe stands to gain from the Afghan debacle?
