I think it’s a whole lot less plausible than you might think, once you start delving into the amount of confirmation we have for the basic propositions of relativity. Relativity has some unresolved issues, but its observation that it is impossible to accelerate a mass to anywhere near the speed of light isn’t one of them.
Relativity applies to the universe only as we know it. Sorry you don’t believe people might learn more.
