Yup—some Freepers are stuck in what I call “straight-jacket science”.
They think science is there to tell us what is impossible.
I think science is there to give us a foundation to learn more about what is possible.
I agree. I see science as a methodical approach to understanding things and not as a rigid orthodoxy (which most scientists tend to see it as).
Sadly when you study history it seems that every generation is afflicted with the hubris that everything that can be known, understood, or invented has indeed been accomplished and nothing new will ever come around.
Meanwhile just since I’ve been alive the internet was created, flat screen TV’s were developed, smart phones came about, solid state computers were developed, LED lights are everywhere now, cars can drive themselves, the Sham-Wow was invented, etc.
The next thirty-three years will surely be amazing!
