Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. Today there are a lot of updates from the east.
In an attempt to undermine Ukrainian offensive capabilities, Russian forces launched several offensive operations in the Luhansk region.
The main goal is to force Ukrainians to relocate their artillery systems away from Zaporizhzhia and Bakhmut to alleviate the pressure on the Russian defense in the south.
The first attempt to breach the Ukrainian defense happened near Kupiansk, the second - near Torske, and the third - near Novoselivske.
All these advances were successfully localized.
Recently, Russian forces made the fourth attempt to penetrate the front line, and this time they managed to achieve notable success.
Even though 2 days ago, the Spokesman for the Eastern Group of Forces stated that Ukrainians finally stopped Russians in this region and got the upper hand, recently, the situation once again slipped out of control.
Interestingly, this particular section of the front line had been completely inactive for a long time.
Ukrainian forces did not try to advance here because they would need to cross the river and fight with Russians, who had unlimited supplies from Svatove.
Russian forces did not try to cross the river because they still hadn’t established full control over the river’s eastern bank.
However, after trying all other options, the Russians decided to move into this region.
Since the region was dormant, the element of surprise played a big role.

Ukrainian fighters reported that Russians opened fire from multiple launch rocket systems even when they saw just a couple of soldiers on the ground.
Soon, Russian infantry reached a small settlement Novoehorivka, and according to some sources, managed to take it.
This is when Ukrainians finally adapted to the situation and started localizing the breakthrough.
The village of Novoehorivka changed hands multiple times, and some sources claimed that the control over it was split.
Novoehorivka consists of only several houses, and its population was 36 people pre-war, so in reality, the fights are taking place for the tree line, it’s just that it happened that there is a settlement in that tree line.
The moment Russian forces realized that they were losing momentum, they opened another axis of advance - from Raihorodka.
Geolocated footage shows how Russians are shelling a small forest and the nearby tree lines with great intensity.
Due to the risk of being taken into a pocket, Ukrainians forces withdrew from Nadia and Serhiivka.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that they collapsed the front line and already captured 3 settlements.
Settlements only have value when they can be used for logistics.
The good news is that these 3 villages that Russians captured, namely Serhiivka, Nadia, and Novoehorivka, consist of only several houses and had a pre-war population of 20, 25, 36 people, respectively, so they in no way help to improve Russian logistics.
The only value of Russian positions, therefore, is their tactical value.
And if we look at the topographic map, we can see that Russians got several footholds on the tactical heights and are trying to advance along the ridges towards the main Ukrainian defense line along the hill.
The good news, as long as Ukrainians control this hill, they are in a good position to repel Russian advances, and given that Russians also have to cross the river, Ukrainians should exploit the fact that Russians cannot use a lot of vehicles and instead are using mostly infantry.
This is once again a perfect setting for using cluster munitions.
In fact, the previous Russian offensive in the Luhansk region, which happened just 40 km north, near Kupiansk, was stopped precisely thanks to heavy cluster shell fire.
The latest updates indicate that Ukrainians stabilized the situation around Karmazynivka, while the situation around Raihorodka remains dynamic.
Today Ukrainians pushed Russians out of Nadiivka, but Russian forces continue to push as well.
Some Russian analysts confirmed this information and claimed that Russians had to step back because of the difficulties associated with holding positions in the lowlands.
The Commander of the Eastern Group of Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, visited the region to personally
evaluate the situation.
Today General Syrskyi is celebrating his 57 birthday by taking command over the most challenging fronts.
The objective is quite difficult - Ukrainians must leverage their tactical heights and effectively localize the breakthrough without triggering the need for relocation of forces from the south.
To achieve it, Ukrainians gradually started redeploying artillery systems from Kupiansk and Lyman.
By increasing fire support slowly, Ukrainian commanders ensure that they are not using more resources than necessary and do not put at risk other directions.
Today, Russian sources reported that Ukrainians are preparing for a counterattack because Russian forces experienced quite heavy shelling.
Russian sources also reported that immediately after artillery preparation Ukrainians launched several small assault units reinforced with at least one armored fighting vehicle.
Russian sources claim that Russian forces are still holding, but what this notably means is that the tide is shifting, and Russians are no longer on the offensive.
If Ukrainians push Russians at least from this sector, the Russian bridgehead will be too close to the river to establish and maintain a permanent presence.
We will see very soon whether Ukrainians manage to render the Russian offensive unsustainable without using too many resources from other fronts.
