I had a black lab that was as smart as hell and like all smart dogs was always into trouble as a puppy. When we first got her when she was 8 months old she jumped up the dinner table and tried to wolf down a prime rib that cost $60 back in 2004.

We got her when my brother-in-law was visiting from California and found her as a stray asked my wife to temporarily keep her until she could come back to pick her up. My kids fell in love with her and that was that.

“...wolf down a prime rib....”

.

Oh - that was Petey the three-legged wonder dog.
We were bringing in the grocery bags from the car -
Petey was up the kitchen table and wolfed down the
roast beef lunchmeat in about three gulps.
Hard to discipline an adorable handicapped dog.

It was Sarah Lee who was the smart one.
She was half black lab, half golden.
A long haired black lab.
With golden eyebrows when she was a puppy.

You see, Daisy would run around the neighborhood pulling everyone’s
clean laundry off of the clothes lines and then dragging it
through the mud - while Sarah would just would just watch -
amused - while thinking: ‘Daisy, you are going to into SO much trouble...’.
