College-Educated Republicans Drop DeSantis En Masse, Joining Non-College Grads in Their Trump Support

College-educated Republicans have now joined their non-college-educated cohorts in supporting former President Donald J. Trump over Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, according to three new Republican primary polls and previously unpublished data from McClatchyDC.

DeSantis dropped a whopping 18 points amongst college-educated Rs over the first half of 2023 according to Morning Consult, while Ipsos concurred the governor had more than halved his support amongst the same group since mid-March. Quinnipiac showed DeSantis with 51 percent of support amongst the college-educated in February, down to just 29 percent today.

“College-educated Republicans were looking for an alternative to Donald Trump, and they initially thought Governor DeSantis, after his 19-point win in Florida, made for a good one,” Whit Ayres, a GOP pollster, told the Miami Herald.. “But the way he has run his campaign, constantly tacking to the right, has turned off many of those people who were initially attracted to him.”

Ayres comments imply the college-educated group were looking for more of a common sense candidate to support, and found DeSantis to be far more ideological, and far less pragmatic than they originally hoped. The news comes as DeSantis announces yet another campaign shake-up, with Donald Trump now performing better with non-college and college-educated Republicans.

No. They are just starting to realize that DeSantis would just be more of the same fake patriotism and surrender for fun and profit as the Bush Crime Family that is behind DeSantis. DeSantis is Jeb! 2.0.

It’s been my observation that “college-educated Republicans” often were MBAs, engineers, programmers, and accountants. In other words, people who got an actual education from college.

Genuine question. Has previous military experience become a liability in Presidential elections?

As for myself, the service in Guantanamo definitely makes me question how far DeSantis got pulled into the forever war machine.

DeSantis is running a poor campaign. This cannot do for the general election.

It’s not that there are many disagreements with many Republican voters on issues; if he can’t get elected because of a badly run campaign there is little point in nominating him.

People are like herd animals.

The herd is following Trump.

Tacking to the right is not what has sent DeSantis supporters into the arms of Trump.

I’m glad DeSantis chose to run now.

Has most likely screwed the pooch for ‘28.

Opens up the field.

Maybe so but it’s got to get much bigger in numbers to mean
anything. Do you see his numbers rising enough to win in Nov
2024. That be 16 months in the future.

DeSantis will come back... either as Trump’s VP or in ‘28. He’s making the same mistake Trump started making when he first ran: listening to ‘advisers’...

There are two herds. One herd doesn’t like elitist republicans of the Bush variety and never will.
The younger ones really detest them.

The other herd, a smaller herd, will tolerate GOP elitists because they hate Trump.

I don’t care about poll numbers, the 2024 General Election will be a “Near Run Thing.”

The only thing I care about is which way the Establishment of the United States rigs the 2024 election.

The process will start November 5, 2024.

When the dust has settled The “votes” counted. The results will show the Americans elected another degenerate like Joe Biden. If not Joe Biden. The days of even semi honest elections are long gone. They will allow President Trump back in the White House again. “They” meaning the Republican Party Hierarchy, The Democrat Party, the Democrat Party and who controls both Parties.
