You’re thinking too much into this. DeSantis’s job was simply to prevent Trump from winning the White House again, either by defeating him in the Primaries, or weakening him enough to lose in November.

As to the Primary, the GOPe is so out of touch with its base that they thought flipping DeSantis to the pro-World War 3 position on Ukraine would help him (or at least not hurt him). It was that move that started the process of taking DeSantis from about 10 points behind Trump to near 40 points behind Trump and DeSantis is now having to battle Vivek for the #2 position.

Your post is reasonable. What I do not understand is the need to unmercilessly rip DeSantis. Don’t get it.

Look, I think most people support Trump primarily because Trump now personifies the desire to tear this corrupt government asunder. Trump is a flawed person. I’m okay with that to a point, but DeSantis has shown, to me at least, that he is a capable warrior with a solid track record.
