During the chaos in Russia this weekend, much of the nation’s leadership effectively disappeared. It remains unclear if Vladimir Putin is even in Moscow, though state spokesmen insist that he has remained “working inside the Kremlin.” The target of Yevgeny Prigozhin’s aborted coup attempt, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, similarly pulled a vanishing act on Saturday. But today he finally reappeared, showing up in Ukraine to perform an inspection of some of Russia’s troops, making sure that the media was there to cover his performance. The Defense Ministry published a video showing Shoigu meeting with high-ranking Russian Army officers at a Russian-controlled military outpost in eastern Ukraine. But that still leaves two mysteries to be solved. Where are Putin and Prigozhin? We haven’t heard a peep out of either of them yet.

Some say that Shoigu appearance was from weeks ago.
Prigozhin was right about him. Everything that was wrong with the Russian military was on Shoigu’s back, and he should be replaced.
Look, I say this not as a Zeeper or Ruzzian, but as a neutral observer. The Russian military does have corruption and leadership problems. They need a top down reformation.

Here is a Russian woman’s evaluation of the current power struggle among Putin, Prigozhin; and Shoigu I ran into on twitter. It sounds believeable, especially as Putin’s described post Prigo travels included a trip to St. Petes. I see she has 4.1M Views, so she might know something.

This is not a coup by Prigozhin. This is an inner war between the St Petersburg gang of Putin and the Moscow gang of Gerasimov and Shoigu. This is the beginning of Putin‘s election campaign to become reelected on March 17, 2024. His lapdog Prigozhin is masquerading a coup to put the blame on Gerasimov and Shoigu for losing the war against Ukraine. Prigozhin can always be scapegoated if he fails like this has happened in the past. #geopolitics #Velsig
