Ukraine doesn’t have a force strong enough for a major offensive, and regular Russian troops are holding solid defensive positions.

Uke’s best bet is to wait and see how this plays out

I disagree. Ukraine is holding back. If Prigozhin wins, he has already called the Ukraine "special military operation" a mistake. Easy for him to negotiate a peace. Easier for the Russian military commanders on the front to side with Prigozhin if they are not fighting the Ukrainians.

Either Prigozhin wins, or things get really messy. Time enough for the offensive if things get really messy.

That would probably be a major mistake. An attack on “Mother Russia” would turn many anti-Putin Russians into pro-Putin Russians. Rally ‘round the flag, and all that.

And yes, I know Crimea is not part of Mother Russia. But most Russians don’t see it that way.
