CTH has said for a year the Achilles heel Ron DeSantis carries, the weak spot that outlines his neocon nature, becomes extremely visible on the subject of Ukraine.
Twice previously, DeSantis has tried to walk the tightrope and navigate his lies surrounding the Ukraine war. Each time he outlines something that leans toward Ukraine needing to concede to Russia and NATO needing to stop meddling on Russia borders, he immediately walks back his comments. DeSantis is stuck on the issue of Ukraine because DeSantis cannot be honest about his position on Ukraine.
Today in South Carolina [Forbes got the state wrong in the title] the issue of Ukraine surfaced in a public Q&A (video below), and both times DeSantis ducked, obfuscated, distracted and refused to answer the question. The second person asked more directly, “What are you going to do about the war in Ukraine?”, because DeSantis never answered the first questioner. WATCH [prompted to 01:08:23]

Only Donald Trump has the solution to the Ukraine war. (1) Stop NATO, namely U.S. created, from provoking nonsense antagonisms on Russia’s border; and (2) Force Zelenskyy to the negotiation table of reality. The Ukraine war stops immediately the day after the 2024 election, if Trump wins.
However, Ron DeSantis cannot take that attitude or foreign policy approach. DeSantis must maintain the approved Republican pro-war narrative as outlined by Democrats, Republicans, UniParty, and the DC political leadership writ large. The DC position on the Ukraine war is all about money; DeSantis must maintain that policy.

The truth is Crimea is quite content being Russian. Ukraine is a total mess of a country interfered in and used by other countries for self serving reasons. The scum at the top of Ukraine rip off any wealth and care nothing for the people.
Saying that strengthening our border comes first before sending money over to fight Russia is somehow a deflection? It seems pretty clear that he thinks China is much more dangerous than Russia which is hard to disagree with. Shouldn’t we be more concerned about Chinese spy balloons and secret police stations on our soil than about border conflicts involving Putin’s attempt to take back pieces of the USSR?
There are, apparently, lots of smart people on this thread. All I see is the deep state media trying to take out both Trump and Desantis.
I’ve been watching the townhall event and learned that DeSantis has been busy undoing the Marxist hold on our public schools and universities. Changing tenure rules so that bad professors can be fired, requiring Florida students to take a civics literacy course and ending the accreditation hold that a leftist group has over Florida schools was news to me and very heartening that someone was doing something useful to remove the left’s power over our children.
It’s Clinton’s fault that Ukraine doesn’t have the nuclear weapons they should never have given up. I can only imagine that a lot of bribery took place because no country in its right mind would trust another country to protect it when it was already capable of threatening Russia with a nuclear missile. We shouldn’t have to pay for their bad judgment, no matter what Clinton and Putin promised them.
They are hoping that some DeSantis supporters will feel so alienated that they refuse to vote for Trump in the general election. DeSantis job is to separate Trump from some of his voters and make it easier for The Biden crime family to stay in power.
Um, so, not clear what the author’s actual prescription for Ukraine would be? Endless war funded by the West? Endless casualties? Permanently unstable geographic region? What? Because, frankly, labeling DeSantis a “neocon” because he wants an end to the war is ... frankly ... bizarre. Neocons want nothing more than to keep this thing going.

RdS has demonstrated that he is ignorant regarding foreign policy. Period.
Whereas President Trump handles foreign affairs naturally, and makes it look easy. Why? Because President Trump is unreservedly committed to an America First world view.
This is a dangerous time to nominate for POTUS a candidate who is clueless and rudderless on foreign policy.
Only a matter of time until DeSantis takes the butthurt bus back to Florida.
