As an average Joe running for president, DeSantis needs money, lots of it. More than he has personally. That is why he will make promises to big donors.
Part of the reason they are going after President Trump is to make sure any other wealthy billionaire thinks twice about running. The other billionaires who buy their access can't have someone they can't control in office.
They like DeSantis because he needs money and will have to play ball to get it.
