Liberals are either too naive or soft on Communism. I grew up under this: McCarthy was pure evil, the Cops in Chicago were wrong,Marxism isn't a big deal.
Then I rebelled to become Neo- Cornish, while still liking FDR and Truman Then I got saved. But besides the Bible, the book that changed my worldview was Ann Coulter's Treason. Finally, the scales fell from my eyes, EVERYTHING I had been fed was a wicked lie. So, I guess I have a converts hatred of marxism and the lies that have allowed it to spread for so long. It's why I joined FR.

Well at least you figured out the truth. Many never have and never will. Good for you.

As for McCarthy, he was spot-on. But his methods may have been misguided. He underestimated what he was up against re: the evil left (sound familiar?). The left marginalized him, their opponent, rather easily and they’ve been succeeding at same ever since.
